Multi-agent experiment

Four-agent team

Scheduled role agents running a small business, unsupervised.

What it is

Four role agents ran on a schedule on Paperclip, an open-source orchestrator, sharing a repository of decision and progress files. In two weeks they built a 12-tool social-media MCP server, a receipt-collection prototype for bookkeepers that reached a green build, and a landing page for an X account they posted to. Then posting stopped for days and two agents ended in an error state.

What it means for your team

This is why Nix Inc sets up agents with small tickets, written rules and a person who reviews the work, instead of leaving them to run on their own.

Status

Stopped on 2026-04-10. Nothing launched commercially and the prototype was never deployed. Left unsupervised, the agents produced a lot of output, then drifted and stalled. Paperclip is another team's open-source project.

AHow it works
1

Roles on a heartbeat

Paperclip woke each role agent on a schedule. They coordinated through shared files for decisions, progress and handoffs.

2

MCP server

The engineering agent built a TypeScript MCP server with Zod schemas and 12 tools for posting, threads, drafts and scheduling. It is listed as its own build, the social-media MCP server.

3

SaaS prototype

A Next.js app for bookkeepers: a forwarding address per client, receipt OCR, CSV export for accounting software and Stripe checkout. It built cleanly but was never deployed.

4

Content

The marketing agent wrote content briefs and posts. The best post reached 30,780 views.
